Banana Republic is Set to Release 'Mad Men' Capsule Collection
The AMC show’s costume designer, Janie Bryant, collaborates with the fashionable store to bring "Mad Men" inspired designs to the public.
Banana Republic has collaborated with AMC to release their first ever Mad Men inspired collection. Emmy Award winning costume designer and author of The Fashion File, Janie Bryant joined forces with Banana Republic creative director Simon Keen to create a 65-piece capsule collection inspired by 1960’s style of Mad Men (the desinger also has a collection, Janie Bryant MOD for QVC). The collection will be released in Banana Republic’s North American stores and online August 11.
The collection features affordable pieces of apparel and accessories for both men and women--ranging from $45 blouses to $450 suits for men and accessories priced from $10 pocket squares to $60 silk ties.
The collection reinvents the classic refined look of the time with a modern twist. The men’s collection includes chunky-knit sweaters, tailored suit separates, and distinctive accessories from the 60’s such as money clips, tie bars and fedora hats. Women can choose from refined-yet-chic pieces such as trench coats, high-waisted skirts or even leopard print heels.
"It’s so rewarding to help create a collection that will allow fans of the series to channel their own 'Mad Men' style and take home fashionable items that are modern, not costume," says Bryant.
Look out for "Mad About Style" webisodes, which feature Bryant and Keen documenting the making of the collection. The webisodes can be seen below.
Season 5 of Mad Men will air on AMC in early 2012.
